3. About GLP-1 medications specifically

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, including semaglutide (Wegovy^®, Ozempic^®) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro^®, Zepbound^®), are prescription medications regulated by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.

• Are contraindicated for individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal disease, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Must be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for optimal outcomes
• Are not a substitute for sustained lifestyle change
