Medical Disclaimer
Kaivo connects you with licensed doctors and pharmacies for clinical weight-loss care. The information on this website, including articles, calculators, FAQs, and quiz results, is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
1. The information on this website is general
Content on getkaivo.in — including but not limited to descriptions of GLP-1 medications, weight-loss calculators, eligibility questions, blog articles, and FAQs — is provided for general educational purposes. It is not personalised medical advice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Statistics from clinical trials (such as SURMOUNT-1 for tirzepatide or STEP-1 for semaglutide) are presented for educational context and reflect average outcomes from studies conducted under controlled conditions. Your individual results may vary significantly.
2. Always consult a qualified medical professional
Before making any decision based on information from this website, consult a qualified medical professional. Do not delay seeking medical advice, disregard medical advice, or discontinue medical treatment because of information on this website.
Treatment decisions for weight-loss medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists, must be made by a licensed doctor based on a complete evaluation of your health, including but not limited to your medical history, current medications, family history, lab results where relevant, and personal goals.
3. About GLP-1 medications specifically
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, including semaglutide (Wegovy®, Ozempic®) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®), are prescription medications regulated by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.
These medications:
- Are not appropriate for everyone
- Carry known side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, and in rare cases, more serious effects including pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, kidney injury, and thyroid C-cell tumours
- Are contraindicated for individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal disease, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Must be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for optimal outcomes
- Are not a substitute for sustained lifestyle change
A licensed doctor on the Kaivo network will assess your suitability and discuss benefits and risks with you in detail before prescribing any medication.
4. Limitations of telemedicine
Teleconsultations have inherent limitations. A doctor cannot physically examine you remotely. There are clinical situations where in-person examination, laboratory tests, or imaging are necessary and a teleconsultation alone is insufficient. In such cases, your Kaivo doctor will refer you for in-person care.
Teleconsultations are conducted in accordance with the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 issued by the National Medical Commission.
5. No doctor-patient relationship from website browsing alone
Simply browsing getkaivo.in, taking the eligibility quiz, or signing up does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and any doctor on the Kaivo network. A doctor-patient relationship is established only when you complete a formal consultation with a doctor.
6. Third-party content
This website may link to or reference third-party content (such as published studies, news articles, or external resources). Kaivo does not endorse and is not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of third-party content.
7. Reporting adverse events
If you experience a side effect or adverse event while taking medication prescribed via Kaivo, contact your Kaivo doctor immediately or visit your nearest emergency room. You may also report adverse drug reactions to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) at the National Coordination Centre, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad.
8. Responsibility for use
You are responsible for how you use the information on this website. By using getkaivo.in, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Medical Disclaimer and agree that Kaivo is not liable for any loss or harm resulting from your use of website content as a substitute for professional medical advice.
